Hello! Ciao!

My Grandfather, Pietro first came from Italy to the USA on February 10, 1911 after a 7 day voyage on the "S.S. La Provence" from the port of Le Havre, France to New York, USA. On the ship manifest, his name was listed as Pietro Pollesel. See Ship Manifest images by clicking here Page 1 (254Kb) , Page 2 (267Kb).

His home in Italy was located at...

Town:   Mareno di Piave
County: Conegliano Veneto
Province: Treviso
State: Veneto
Country: Italy

He came to live in Rockdale, Illinois - USA, a small town near Joliet - about 35 miles Southwest of Chicago, IL.   He returned to Italy temporarily and returned on the "S.S. France" (See Ship Manifect images Page 1 (264Kb) , Page 2 (239Kb), arriving in New York on July 10, 1914. Our family association with Rockdale is still strong. (Click here to see a newpaper article written by my sister, Sally, as part of the recognition of the Rockdale Centennial.)

This website is being created to facilitate the sharing of information regarding the "Polesel"  family tree, history, news and events.

I am especially interested in Links to other sites containing Polesel information as well as creating a Polesel Family Tree.  If you have any other information on Polesel links or websites, please let me know.

Greetings to All... Pete Polesel

March 18, 2007: Polesel Reunion in Italy

Visit to learn of the next Polesel reunion currently proposed for March 18th.

April 20, 2006: We mourn the passing of Amália Polesel of Caracas Venezuela.

I was very proud to have communications with Amália since the beginnings of this website. I am including the note I received from Claudinei who learned of Amália's death from her son Marco. It is a fitting tribute to a pioneer of the Polesel family Geneology.

Sorry for the translation errors, but the translation from Portuguese to English was provided through an automated program found at

Since century XVI

This family tree is truly precious. Few families have this privilege. There are information of our ancestor since century XVI until today!
This information alone exist thanks to Amália Taurchini Polesel, wife of Eddo Polesel, Italians who had immigrated for Venezuela and there they had constituted family and businesses. Amália, who got passionate for genealogy, stimulated her nephew, Alessando Vaccher, son of Edda Pollesel, to cover churches, cemeteries and notary's offices of Treviso to rescue information that were forgotten for more than 500 years. My contact with D. Amália was through e-mails. I did not have the chance to know her in person, unhappily, she passed on 20 of April of 2006, after 9 years of disease. I have for her great admiration, for her gestures, a generous pioneer who stimulated researchers of the entire world. Pete Polesel, in the United States and Renzo Polesel, Italy, had developed pages in the InterNet ( and Other relatives who live in Argentina, U.S.A., Canada, France, Italy, Suissa and Australia have more known a little on its origins and had given to continue the research, generating important discoveries.
Very obliged, Amália! She has taught all that the genealogy has the power to join the people...
